TPO Roofing
The Benefits of TPO Roofing
TPO roofing systems are made up of a single layer of synthetics that can be used to cover flat roofs. TPO stands for thermoplastic polyolefin. If you’ve seen a bright white roof (usually on a commercial building), then you may be familiar with TPO roofing. It’s actually a blend of different types of rubber, not a plastic and has some of the best energy savings for single-ply membrane roofing! The name is a bit misleading. TPO has superior weathering and slightly better tear and break resistance than PVC Roofing.
Thermoplastic Polyolefin is a single-ply roofing membrane that is one of the fastest growing commercial roofing systems on the market. It is manufactured in sheets that are 10, 12 or 20 feet wide. Then rolled up and taken to the commercial facility.
TPO has gained industry acceptance with the natural reflective surface to reflect UV rays. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) reports that TPO takes up about 40% of the commercial roofing market share for single ply membrane roofing.
